Fountains
General
Fountains are a favorite design element, both outdoors and inside buildings. They serve as decorative design elements and are used as oases of relaxation. Fountains give people a sense of well-being. Fountains are also frequently valuable works of art, and provide effective humidification inside buildings. Fountains can have a number of technical features and are unique in their design and their operation. There are thus many possible variations, such as the selection of construction materials, the installed fountain heads, and size of the system. In order for fountains to be visually attractive and technically functional, steps must be taken to prevent two main problems. First, lime deposits on the edge of the basin, and second, the growth of algae and bacteria.
Aqua-Concept, with environmentally friendly combinations of agents, provides significantly improved visual appearance and reduced maintenance and cleaning costs, using targeted treatment of the water against microbes and lime.
Problem and our Solution for you
Since most fountain systems are located in publicly accessible areas, it must be ensured that the water quality is similar to that in a swimming pool. It has been seen, however, that water treatment for fountains is more complicated than that for a swimming pool, due to individual conditions. For instance, evaporation per cubic meter of water is much higher than for a swimming pool, since the basin is very flat and fountains have a very large surface area. Also, fountains are often used by adults to cool off, and by children at play.
Therefore, the following technical water problems must be primarily addressed during operation:
- Microbe growth (algae, bacteria, and legionella growth)
- Lime deposits on basin edges due to high evaporation rates
The introduction of organic materials allows algae and bacteria to reproduce rapidly, and make the basin water unattractive and unhealthy. The fountain water contains dissolved lime that precipitates under the prevailing operating conditions, and causes unattractive discoloration in the basin.
Fountains are generally closed-loop water systems, in which the loss of water during operation is compensated for by the addition of raw or process water. On warm days, the water in circulation heats up a great deal, and large amounts of water must be added. The varying quality and composition of the water make it impossible to find an optimal “off-the-shelf” water treatment.
In order to find the optimal water treatment for your application, we start with an analysis of the components you use. The first step is to carry out an assessment of your system, including taking a water sample and analyzing and evaluating it. Based on this data set, and the goals and requirements you wish to achieve, we develop an optimal system to optimize your water quality.
This is followed by regular support by our service department, which provides thorough system monitoring, and thereby enhances the provision of the highest possible operational security. Changing operating conditions and water quality can thus be identified right away, and the water treatment adapted accordingly. So that you can be sure, every day, that your fountain will not make anyone sick.
